An observational synthesis of the Taurid meteor complex

We provide an overview of the observational properties four major Taurid showers, namely Northern and Southern Taurids (#017 NTA #002 STA), Beta (#173 BTA) Zeta Perseids (#172 ZPE). Analysing more than two decades meteor observations from visual, optical radar measurements we present average activity, annual variations in strength, radiant drift orbital as a function solar longitude particle size. The showers are detected over several weeks spring autumn, but their activity level is generally low (less 15 visual meteors per hour). find STA to be predominant while its twin ZPE dominates BTA spring. Due long duration, position each shower's elements variable with time. Optical have previously recorded enhanced increased fireball rates caused by return swarm meteoroids trapped 7:2 mean motion resonance Jupiter.
